Interview

Dr. Violeta Claus | Founder of Vio LifeSmile Design & VO Aesthetics

We were delighted to interview Dr. Violeta Claus, a founder who seamlessly combines clinical precision with a holistic approach to wellbeing. She has reshaped the landscape of advanced dentistry and medical aesthetics in Luxembourg as the founder of Vio LifeSmile Design and VO Aesthetics, dedicating her career to integrating state of the art technology, personalized care, and genuine clinical integrity to help individuals enhance their health, confidence, and quality of life.

Her journey reflects the balance of clinical mastery and visionary leadership, expanding her scope from intricate dental rehabilitation to launching a sophisticated medical aesthetics brand. Navigating the complexities of building sustainable systems, cultivating trust, and scaling two premium healthcare practices, Dr. Claus exemplifies the dedication, resilience, and thoughtful innovation that define a true founder.

What inspired you to take the leap into founding and building your own career path in Luxembourg?

My entrepreneurial journey began with a desire to practise healthcare according to my own professional philosophy. As a dentist, I have always believed that excellent treatment starts with understanding the whole person, not simply addressing an isolated problem. Function, aesthetics, long term health and personal confidence are deeply connected. Building my own dental practice gave me the opportunity to bring that philosophy to life through interdisciplinary treatment planning, modern technologies and a highly personalized patient experience.

Over time, that same curiosity and commitment to innovation led me into medical aesthetics and wellness. With VO Aesthetics, I wanted to create a space where science, technology and individual wellbeing could come together in a thoughtful, sophisticated way. For me, entrepreneurship was never simply about owning a business. It was about having the freedom and the responsibility to build something that reflects my values.

What has been your most defining milestone or breakthrough moment so far leading your wellness and dental practices?

One of my most defining milestones has been expanding my professional vision beyond dentistry and building VO Aesthetics alongside Vio LifeSmile Design. It meant stepping into a different industry, learning new technologies, creating a new brand identity and developing a business model with its own challenges and opportunities. But the deeper breakthrough was realising that my experience as a clinician could become the foundation for something broader. Whether I am planning a complex dental rehabilitation or developing a personalized aesthetic treatment approach, the principles remain remarkably similar: careful assessment, realistic expectations, attention to detail and respect for the individual. Building two businesses has challenged me to grow not only as a healthcare professional, but also as an entrepreneur and leader.

What is one major challenge you faced along the way, and how did you navigate it?

One of the greatest challenges has been learning how to transform a highly personalized clinical vision into a business that can operate consistently and sustainably. As a healthcare professional, you are trained to take responsibility, solve problems and pay attention to the smallest details. Those qualities are invaluable in patient care, but they can also make it difficult to step back and delegate.

I learned that professional excellence alone does not create a successful business. You also need reliable systems, clear communication, financial discipline and people who take genuine ownership of their responsibilities.

My approach has been to continually reassess how we work, strengthen our operational structure and become more intentional about leadership. It is an ongoing journey, but one that has fundamentally changed how I think about building a business.

What’s the biggest misconception about starting or scaling a brand from scratch in this space?

That having excellent professional skills, advanced technology or a beautiful brand is enough to build a successful business. In healthcare and aesthetics, trust is everything. But trust is not created by equipment, design or marketing alone. It comes from the entire patient experience: how people are welcomed, how carefully their concerns are understood, how treatment options are explained, how expectations are managed and how consistently the team follows through.

Another misconception is that premium healthcare is simply about offering expensive treatments. To me, premium means thoughtful care, clinical integrity, individual attention and the confidence to recommend what is genuinely appropriate for each person. A strong brand must deliver on its promises long after the first impression.

Behind the public milestones, what quiet personal or operational sacrifice are you most proud of navigating?

The responsibility that comes with being the person behind the vision.

There are many moments in entrepreneurship that nobody sees: the decisions made after a long clinical day, the time spent solving operational problems, the personal plans postponed and the constant effort to balance professional standards with the realities of running a business. When your name and reputation are closely connected to your work, it can be difficult to separate professional responsibility from personal responsibility.

I am proud that, through demanding periods, I have continued to care deeply about the quality of our work and the people who trust us. But I have also learned something important: dedication should not mean doing everything yourself. One of the most meaningful parts of my growth as a founder has been recognizing that building the right team and systems is not a loss of control. It is what allows a vision to become sustainable.

What piece of advice would you give to another woman founder who is hesitant to start building her own venture?

Don’t wait until you feel completely ready. You can prepare, research and plan, but entrepreneurship will always ask you to learn things you couldn’t have anticipated. Start with a clear understanding of why you want to build your business and what makes your approach different.

Surround yourself with people who challenge and support you. Learn the financial side of your business as seriously as you learn your profession. And create systems earlier than you think you need them.

Most importantly, don’t confuse a difficult chapter with failure. There will be moments when your confidence is tested, when plans change and when you question your decisions. Those moments are part of the journey, not necessarily the end of it. Build something that reflects your values, but make sure you are building a life you want to live alongside it.
